Recognized for his skillful and original integrations of contemporary classical and jazz composition and performance practices, his works have been performed by ensembles such as ALEA III, the Charleston Symphony Orchestra, the Aardvark Jazz Orchestra, and Speculum Musicae, at venues including the Piccolo Spoleto Festival, Miller Theater, the University of Cape Town (South Africa), and numerous other U.S. festivals and universities
The American Academy of Arts & Letters citation reads “Jacobs’s music masters the ‘virtual’ and ‘real’ sound habitats and embeds them into a unified and consistent single space with grace, broad orchestral imagination and expressivity. Jacobs’s music is immediately engaging, attractive and intellectually demanding.”
Composer, saxophonist, and teacher, Frank Mauceri lives and works in southern Maine. His compositions include chamber music, electro-acoustic music, multi-media works, and jazz arrangements.
Colin Carr appears throughout the world as a soloist, chamber musician, recording artist, and teacher. He has played with major orchestras worldwide, including the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, The Philharmonia, Royal Philharmonic, BBC Symphony, the orchestras of Chicago, Los Angeles, Washington, Philadelphia, Montréal and all the major orchestras of Australia and New Zealand. Conductors with whom he has worked include Rattle, Gergiev, Dutoit, Elder, Skrowasczewski and Marriner. He has been a regular guest at the BBC Proms and has twice toured Australia.
His playing has been called “a revelation for unforced sweetness and strength” (The Boston Globe).He is also a noted jazz artist who concertizes in the U.S., Canada, Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand; and is featured on 40 recordings (Sony Classical, Dorian, Newport Classic, Leo Records, and other labels).
Maya Bennardo is a freelance violinist and teacher living in Brooklyn. She recently graduated from NYU as a Master of Music and the Oberlin Conservatory
Violist Hannah Levinson is an active performer in New York City, devoted to performing music of the past 50 years. She is a founding member of the violin/viola duo andPlay, an ensemble that works to commission new works and perform lesser-known works for their instrumentation. She has worked with contemporary music groups such as ACME, ensemble mise-en, Talea Ensemble, Contemporaneous, North/South Consonance, and The Rhythm Method Quartet.
