Beyond the Lines and Spaces: A “Playcation” for the Adult Piano Hobbyist

NEPR_keysTo provide a rich and varied experience for the adult piano hobbyist by offering a variety of workshops and performance opportunities in a non-competitive, supportive atmosphere.

The New England Piano Retreat allows you to immerse yourself in your passion of playing the piano while escaping from your daily routine. In addition to the traditional master classes and private lessons, imaginative workshops offerings are designed to expand your understanding of movement on and off the bench, experience improvisation and ensemble playing, solve problem passages and further expand keyboard skills, Our focus is on you – helping you make a leap forward in your musical journey.

To maintain a personalized experience, participant numbers are limited. Intermediate to advanced pianists playing Clementi Sonatinas and above are welcome to attend. Teachers wishing to sharpen their skills are also welcome to attend as participants or observers. Give yourself a gift and register now!

Program Faculty:

Dr. Jackie Edwards-Henry, Program Director, Applied Faculty; Professor of piano and piano pedagogy at Mississippi State University

Professor Jacqueline Herbein NCTM, RYTFeatured Artist; Pennsylvania Music Teachers Association Teacher of the Year (2005), active soloist, ensemble performer and teacher.

Application Requirements

This focused, one-week seminar is open to pianists, teachers and graduate piano majors who are ready to enhance their body wisdom and rekindle their love of teaching. Undergraduate piano majors who have completed at least one year of undergraduate music study are also welcome.

Enrollment is limited to 24 participants. Participants must be over the age of 18 and are selected on the basis of ability and supporting materials. As the application process is on a rolling basis, we encourage you to apply early.

    • 7 days – full participation, includes all meals, housing, and activities
      $1145 (MMTA members $995)
    • 7 days – audit/observer, includes all meals, housing, but observer status
      $795 (MMTA members $695)
    • Daily rate/observer, lunch only $95 per day
